The city that never sleeps chose to have a day off. Delis open “24 hours a day, 7 days a week”, are closed, the nails shop offering manicure/pedicure ” pick up a color” from early morning to evening stay shut … I feel like being in Paris where stores are still close on Sunday for historical reasons, allowing families to go to church. New Yorkers discover a very quiet Sunday with NO shopping. It is bad for retail but an interesting experience. People are strolling in the parks when not closed. It is calm after storm… Irene? Quite an experience.
