My Fashion Night Out

It was a blast this year! so many people in the street, so many things happening! It was just fun as shopping in a big city should be. I focussed on downtown. Soho was a zoo. I enjoyed a glass of wine at Kirna Zabete. Azzedine Alaia proved once again the best. I flashed on  a black dress (also in black and white) with a flared  skirt  in a mixed fabric of wool and rubber that needed no  woman (inside) to have a life of its own. I was stopped by…  the sky rocketing price of over $3,000. At the Realm one could rediscover Thierry Mugler who according to WWD would be in contract with Nicola Formichetti, stylist, editor and consultant with  clients including Lady Gaga and Uniqlo. Lady Gaga in Thierry Mugler what else?  But a capsule collection for Uniqlo,  that’s good for me too. Also was there French designer Alexis Mabille (wwwalexismabille.com), ex-Dior, who started in own line in 2005 with great talent as you can see at The Realm ( 98 Greene street). Outside the wrowd went bizerk when a celebrity exited one of the store. It was worth than demonstrations in Paris but so much more fun! A highlight of the evening was Club Monaco where with great elegance considering the line!- Demarchelier Jr was making portraits of clients from the store. Of course I had my picture taken  like a real  “midinette” ! Club Monaco certainly has become a  hype brand. Last night at the Prince street’s store were the two  designers. She comes from London and he comes from Detroit. Together they have joined European sophistication and an America’s rugged look .  Their collection has reached a great balance. The brand that belongs to Ralph Lauren will venture in London ( Brown’s) very soon.  Other highlights of the evening: the fleet of 30 all-new 2011 Volkswagen Jettas , a PR event named  “Volkswagen Style Express”  offering thousands of shoppers a free VIP ride. except for the line… I got in a yellow cab instead!

I spent Fashion Night Out with a French friend whose cousin was killed in the Sept 11th attack. It was september 10th and the next morning he had to be at 8:40 downtown for the ceremony.

It was all very bitter sweet.
