Transforming your body, changing radically your image is something artists have played with for sometimes. French artist Orlan is certainly a good example. With the help of Photoshop and cosmetic surgery, she created art.
Recently, we have seen fashion designers changing their looks in a radical way. Thierry Mugler has become a body built and tattooed legend. He was designing armors for women. He has become one instead.
Quite impressive is Marc Jacobs’ transformation. We know – everybody knows ALL about him – that he duly exercises two hours a day at the gym. But recently in the Financial Times he confessed to Vanessa Friedman that he had a torn rotator cuff on his shoulder, will have surgery in a few weeks, and so hasn’t “been able to work out at all”.(http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/e0ffeffe-645e-11df-8cba-00144feab49a.html)
Before that nasty surgery, he had time to pose on silver Mylar for his new men scent Bang, released next July. “Men’s fragrance, unlike women’s in a certain way, is very personal. It’s a layer on top of skin — for women, it can be like changing a makeup color, but not for men.” said Marc Jacobs to Women Wear Daily recently. It made sense for him to invest himself in this ad. Marc Jacobs has transformed himself from a skinny , hairy, young man to a … real man
I was lucky enough to spend a moment with him at the French Institute where I had invited him to give a talk. I did not see the full body obviously (!) but the charm operated fully. You want to “buy” him and the clothes as well! Seeing him naked today will make millions of fans very, very happy!
