After Ralph Rucci last year, Catherine Malandrino received the 2010 Fashion Icon honor from the New York Pratt Institute last Thursday.
It all started with a great video on Catherine’s life that included the recent developments of the brand. “Traveling is about opening the mind”. Catherine definitely travels having opened stores and corners in Moscow, Istanbul, Tokyo, Paris, Las Vegas, or L.A.
A touching Kim Hastreiter celebrated “this rare bird” in the fashion world who has kept “her natural generosity”, her “joie de vivre”.

” I have always wanted to empower women with elegance and a timeless edge” said Catherine in her speech, encouraging the Pratt students to keep their focus, to stay true to their dream.
It was all about that ‘joie de vivre” with the creativity and fun of the Pratt Institute Fashion show that followed. I loved the costume collection!
It was about fun again at the after party at the Standard with the Malandrino clan.
